The evolution of conceptual approaches to the role of budget expenditures in economic development

The article suggests considering the evolution of views on using public expenditures to achieve economic development in different historical periods. The authors have analyzed the role of governmental intervention in the development of national economy of the world’s leading countries from the XVII-th century and till the present time. The role of budgetary financing in the economic development of Ukraine is characterized.
